The Ultrasonic Leak Detector (ULD) by EXAIR

Always seeking to maximize innovation and performance in its vast portfolio of industrial compressed-air equipment, the team at EXAIR LLC has recently upgraded the appearance and function of its Ultrasonic Leak Detector, or ULD. This sensitive, handheld device is designed to help users locate the sources of expensive leaks in compressed-air systems.

The Model 9207 ULD enables fast repairs and reduced costs in the key role it plays in identifying and pinpointing leaks that often go undetected.

Comes with hard-shell plastic case

High-pressure gas creates high-frequency turbulence when it moves into an area with lower pressure, and this results in an ultrasonic or “white nose” sound that human ears cannot detect. EXAIR has engineered the ULD to detect these vibrations and emit an audible sound through the supplied ear buds, and it also indicates intensity on its front-facing LED display as it moves closer to the leak’s origin. The user can quickly and effectively test the various unions, pipes, valves, and fittings of a full installation at distances as far away as 6.1 metres.

In addition, the instrument’s “+” and “-” buttons for fine-tuning sensitivity can be used to adjust the ULD to filter out background noise. The Model 9207 ULD also provides a heightened ability to detect leakage in areas that are difficult to reach. The device is fully compliant with the IEC 61326-1 standard, which designates its ability to function in the electromagnetic environments that are typically found in industrial plants, as well as the European CE and RoHS occupational health and safety standards.

EXAIR’s Model 9207 ULD can locate leaks in air, steam, and non-flammable gas systems, and it comes with a hard-shell plastic case, an ear-buds parabola, a tubular adapter, a tubular extension, and AA batteries. The user can attach the parabola or extension to mask out intense background noise. Prices start at US$835.

Established in 1983, EXAIR LLC designs and manufactures a wide range of industrial compressed-air equipment at its plant in Cincinnati. Among the many examples are vacuum conveyors, vacuum generators, cabinet coolers, static eliminators, air knives, amplifiers, spray nozzles, accessories, and much more.
