The four kinds of Rosta tensioning accessories

Rosta Inc. keeps Canadian industry profitable and operational through its unique expertise in tensioning technology – with the help of its parent company in Switzerland, which observes its 80th anniversary this year. In addition to its innovative portfolio of tensioner devices and motor bases, the Rosta team makes tensioning accessories. With examples including sprockets, rollers, and chain riders, these solutions are built to keep tensioning units working. Regardless of the design of chain or belt drive, Rosta always recommends the right tensioning accessories to customers.

Four accessory types available

Complementary accessories for tensioning are available to satisfy any specific need, even for customers who intend to use chain riders. Among the examples is a mounting bracket as a flexible, practical way to fix and implement tensioners in construction scenarios. There are also tensioning accessories to support any critical component that Rosta supplies, so do-it-yourself is never necessary. The following four types of tensioning accessories are available:

  • Type N, sprocket wheel set – designed to complete the tensioning elements in chain-drive applications. Each sprocket wheel runs on a self-lubricating ball bearing 2Z.X3. Rosta offers simplex, duplex, and triplex sets in various sizes. Wheels contain 11, 13, or 15 teeth; weight runs from 60 grams (g) to 1.93 kilograms (kg).
  • Type P, chain rider set – an inexpensive low-noise alternative for tensioning chain drives, assembled on the tensioning element. Made from friction-resistant industrial plastic, the high-quality rider enables use on both rider sides. The highest permissible chain speed is 1½ metres per second.
  • Type R, tensioning roller – made out of high-quality industrial plastic material, with two self-lubricating ball bearings 2Z.C3. Rosta carries five sizes, with maximum speeds ranging from 4,500 to 8,000 revolutions per minute (RPM), maximum belt widths going from 30 to 130, and weights from 80 g to 1¾ kg.
  • Type RL, tensioning roller – similar to Type R, but designed specifically for light-duty drives. Three different sizes are available, with maximum speeds going from 4,500 to 8,000 RPM, maximum belt widths from 30 to 55, and weights from 80 to 500 g.
