York Fluids Controls Ltd. is Canada’s top source of air-operated double-diaphragm (AODD) pumps by Versa-Matic – including a variety of chemical-resistant plastic models. The manufacturer offers seven distinct types of bolted plastic pumps, with port sizes ranging from 6.4 to 76.2 millimetres (mm) and various material options and solids-handling capabilities available.

Ideal for sumps, utilities, mines

Versa-Matic’s E2 two-inch plastic flap valve pump is a potent example, developed to provide superior solids handling in a chemically resistant, lightweight portable design. These characteristics make this model ideal for applications in chemical sumps, utilities, and mine dewatering. This pump from York Fluid Controls has a solids-handling range of up to 46 mm, a best-in-class flow rate of 568 litres per minute (lpm), dry prime of up to 5.8 metres of water, and an all-bolted, rugged, leak-free construction. Weighing only 24 kilograms (kg), this pump is easy and safe to transport, and the top-suction, bottom-discharge design uses gravity to pump fluids with settling solids.

Another advantage of the E2 is ease of maintenance, with fast access to serviceable parts. The user merely removes six bolts that secure the cleanout cap in place to reach and clear simple clogs; disassembling the whole pump is not necessary. This way, flap valves can be inspected and/or replaced as required. Four bolts hold the modular flap valves in place for fast repair or maintenance.

All Versa-Matic’s bolted plastic pumps are available with polypropylene or polyvinylidene fluoride wetted materials, as well as polypropylene air-side materials, and have a common maximum air inlet pressure of 100 pounds per square inch. Maximum flow rates range from 19 to 1,060 lpm, with maximum solids handling going from one to 18 mm and maximum displacement per stroke running from 0.04 to 3.8 litres. Sizes also vary, from the E8 at 135 by 104 by 144/145 mm, to the E3 at 1,033 by 821 by 411 mm. Shipping weights range from 1.4 to 123 kg.
